How to make backups stop at the end of the attempt window

Question: Is it possible to set the backup to stop after a period of time? I want backups to stop before the start of the business day.

Answer: Yes. Add a registry key, and then set the Backup Window (In the backup sets schedule screen) to the number of hours you want backups to run. At the end of the backup time, the backup will stop. Data not backed up today will be backed up with the next session. This is not the default behavior. To modify this, use the following procedure.

You can have the current backup stop at the end of the Attempt Window by setting the following registry key on the Client’s computer. Files not backed up because of the time constraint will be backed up in the next session.

HKLM\Software\Quantum Tech, Inc.\Remote Backup\Settings : SetWindow = "TRUE"

(if on a 64 bit computer, add the “Wow6432node” key just after /Software/)

Feature ‘Backup Window’: By enabling the following registry key to True, the Attempt Window will now act as an actual backup window (only for scheduled backups). When the Elapsed time of the backup session exceeds the window, it stops the backup. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Quantum Tech, Inc.\Remote Backup\Settings: “SetWindow”

You can set this by default for all your installers by adding this key to your endpoint installer’s registry modification file, BACKUP.REG.

Find this file in your Server’s folder: /Program Files(x86)/RBS Server/Client/

Open it with Notepad and just add the following line to the first block of values:

“SetWindow”=”TRUE”
