Error 10053 in logs during a backup

The server logs report Error 10053 during a backup session. I am running the server on port 21.

Make sure your RBS Server tests OK using the Online Server Tester: http://remote-backup.com/support/testrbs.htm

If the above test fails, then recheck your server settings and router/firewall settings.

This issue basically means that something opened a connection, and the connection was attempted but never completed. If an Endpoint opens a connection, but then SENDS no message, the port eventually gives up and the software generates an error 10053.

It can happen for a lots of reasons: Make sure you have the right ports open and forwarded properly in your server-side router. Check your router for any timeout parameters or adjust your MTU settings. AUTO or 1500 are good choices.

This error has been attributed to the following:

* A hiccup in the network.

* A bad network interface card on server.

* Faulty routers.

* Other applications interfering with connections.

The ports that are required for the Server are:

2774 or 21 (command port, configurable, TCP) - needs to be forwarded to the internal ip of the server machine, TCP/IP protocol.

29001- 29100, or (depreciated 1024-2048) (data port range, configurable, TCP) - also the range should be defined under Tools-Properties on RBS manager, and need to be forwarded to the internal IP of the server machine. - TCP/IP.
