(Exception from HRESULT: 0x800736B1) Error in Backup Log: -2147467261 Object reference not set to an instance of an object. on frmBackupSet.VssOpenFilesProcess OS affected: Windows 2008 64-bit, Windows Vista 64-bit, and maybe others. Solution: 1) Make sure 'AlphaVSS.Win2008.x64.dll' is present in the Endpoint's application folder (usually, C:\Program Files (x86)\Remote Backup). If no DLL is present, please contact support. 2) If Windows 2008 Server 64-bit (else, proceed to step 3), check if the following registry key is set to True -
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Quantum Tech, Inc.\Remote Backup\Settings: "ServerOS" - REG_SZ - "True"
If there is no registry key, close the Endpoint application and create a new registry key (String value) in the above branch, and called in 'ServerOS'. Set the value to True.
Restart the Endpoint application, and test. 3) IF the DLL in step 1 is present, and the registry key is set correctly, the system is most likely missing a VC++ DLL. Download the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable from the link below, and install this on the server. After installation, restart the Endpoint application. MS VC++ Redistributable Download:
