What does saving catalog mean?

"Saving Catalog" means that the endpoint software is uploading its catalog file, the backup.mdb file. Like the other files that are backed up, this file is compressed and encrypted. If the customer has selected a lot of files (100,000 or more) during the most recent backup, or if the endpoint's uplink speed is slow, it can take a while. There's one record in the catalog file for every file that was backed up. This upload usually happens at night when nobody is around, so the speed of transfer isn't an issue in the real world. To speed it up, break up backups into smaller backup sets. Don't back up entire hard drives or Windows system files. Select only critical data files.
