Error message:

Invalid object name sysdatabases when connecting sql server 2005

Fix:

Try adding the SQL server name after the server name

For example, if your server was named 'bigturnip' specify 'bigturnip\sqlexpress' where sqlexpress is the instance name - this just happens to be the default used by SQL Server 2005 SQLExpress.
