Expanding storage space on the RBS Server
|
|
Sometimes you need to increase the storage capacity of your RBS Server. This is usually done by adding more drives. We recommend you add more drives when your first drive becomes 50% full. When you need to expand, add more drives and map them to drive letters. Then restart the RBS Server. Open the RBS Manager (the console application). Set the Default Root Directory to your first new drive. To do this, first turn off the RBS Server software. You can do that by clicking the button with the green dot in the upper left of the RBS Manager that has the word "Running". The dot will change to RED, indicating that the server has stopped. The server won't stay stopped for long because of the software's failsafe auto-restart feature, so you must be quick. Navigate to Tools -> Properties. Select your new Server Root Folder - set it to the first of your new drives. Click OK. Click the button with the red dot that says "Stopped" to restart the RBS Server. It might restart automatically. If it does, that's good enough. If you weren't fast enough to change the Server Toot Folder before it restarted itself, try again. Faster. Now all NEW endpoints that you add to your system will go to the new drive. All existing endpoints that were writing to the old drive will still continue to use the old drive. To move existing customers to a new drive, see this article - CLICK TO READ.
