How to perform a disaster recovery in case of hard drive crash?

There are two ways to perform the Disaster Recovery in case of hard drive failure or system crash. This article describes both.

1) Using the Encryption Key Disk/File:

First install a fresh client on the new system. When prompted for ÔÇÿNew RegistrationÔÇÖ or ÔÇÿDisaster RecoveryÔÇÖ - Select Disaster Recovery. The client will prompt you for the Key Disk. If you have the Key disk/file with you, answer Yes, and the client will ask you for the destination of the Key Disk/File.

After reading the file, it will contact the server and retrieve the last known catalog file from the server. Upon successfully recovering the catalog, it will ask you to restart the client application. Restart the client, and you will now be able to restore from the Restore window.

2) With the hard copy or the Printout of the encryption key info:

After installing a client and selecting Disaster Recovery Option: Answer ÔÇÿNoÔÇÖ when prompted for an Encryption Key. The client will present you a new form, where you can manually enter the Username, password, encryption method and key information from your printed form. After entering the detailes, the client will start the DR process and restore the latest catalog from the server. All files will be available for restore from the Restore window.
