What is the recommended procedure for first full backups with large data sets?

 

With RBackup the first backup of any new backup set is Full. Thereafter, RBackup automatically switches to the Backup Method you have chosen, which is usually Incremental.

You can do the first full backup using a portable hard drive. In the RBackup Endpoint software, select the Backup Set you want to run, and then select Run -> Copy to Disk.

RBackup will ask you for the location of your hard drive, and then it will run the backup. As it does, it prepares the Server to receive the backups, and it sends the actual backup files to the USB drive.

When the backup is finished, take the USB drive to the Server.

Open the RBS Manager console application. Click the Accounts button.

Right-click the account you want to import, and select Import Data from the menu.

The data will then be imported into the Server, and it will be available for restores online.
