How to pause the backup on the Endpoint

You can pause the backup whenever you want and you can resume the backup. If your RBS Server is down for a day or if you want to pause the backup during the business hours you can do it by changing PauseMode registry key value on the Endpoint machine.

Please follow the steps given below on the client machine:

1. Close the Endpoint completely. End rbclient.exe and rbackup.exe via task manager (if running).

2. Go to the registry window and navigate to the path given below::

For 32-bit machine

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Quantum Tech, Inc.\Remote Backup\Settings:

For 64-bit machine

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Quantum Tech, Inc.\Remote Backup\Settings:

3.On the right pane edit the following registry key:

“PauseMode”  =  “True”

Start the Endpoint and run the backup, you will see a pause button on the backup progress window.

You can also set this as part of your default custom installer by adding this registry key to the rbackup.reg file, which you will find in the folder /Program Files/RBS Server/Client (or /Program Files (x86)/RBS Server/Client.Rbackup.reg file contains all the registry key entries, you can open and change "PauseMode" value to True

The file rbackup.reg gets compiled into all installers. So, after you edit it, rebuild your installer and all your future installers will have this as the default setting.
